Day 22 Wandering the other Portland 10-5-14

We slept in very comfortably and started slowly with coffee here, showers and gathering dirty clothes. A neighborhood laundromat allowed us to take a walk while washing. We ended up down by the water and found a small coffee shop, OMI, with great coffee and pastries. We had enough time for a light breakfast and then back to finish drying and home to put everything back in place.

After sorting the clothes out we went back out to walk to the Portland Transportation Center about 1.5 miles away.the center is not very ped/bike friendly but some work underway may improve that and we climbed around the obstacles meanwhile. We got our tickets for Boston and Freeport trips and then took a bus downtown for more exploring. Laurie toured the home of Longfellow while I sought out some coffee and a snack. I checked out the nearby Longfellow bookshop while she made more than a few purchases in the Longfellow museum gift shop. Longfellow is clearly very popular here. We met up again and walked back towards home with a stop for pizza and salads.

We enjoyed a meal at the apartment while watching the Climate Change Town Hall DVD. It was a good summary of that great event and a reminder of what waits when we get home again. Afterwards there was plenty of time for reading and relaxing with a little writing too.
