We started today with a quest. We wanted to go to the best coffee shop around, Two if by Sea, and continue our day from there. The catch was it is located across the bay in Dartmouth, a short ferry ride away. We made it there without a hitch and found it up the hill from the ferry.
The coffee and pastries were amazing and well worth our trip. We shared our table with a single mother originally from Columbia, Olga. She was delightful in spite of some recent setbacks. We talked at length about life and opportunities and she soon offered to give us a ride to our planned trip to Point Pleasant Park. We thanked her but needed to walk after that big meal and wanted to check out the bus system. We exchanged contact info to see how things work out for her.
After our ferry ride back to Halifax we stopped at the Info Center to set up transportation for the next two days. That settled our remaining loose ends so it was off to the park by bus for a walk and picnic. We jumped off the bus at the first opportunity and made our way into the park. It is managed as a historic site with former fort defenses and crisscrossing trails and gravel roads. It was a bit confusing but we enjoyed the hike including some good nature observations. There were quite a few people walking dogs off leash on some trails so we picked others to walk. Everyone enjoyed the gray skies, fresh air and maze of trails to explore. Our picnic came from Two if by Sea and was tasty and filling.
Several hours later we hiked back and caught a bus immediately and were soon back downtown. We spent a little time on the waterfront at shops and tracking Jon's progress to Alaska and talking to my mom by Skype.
Back up the hill we went to find the Natural History museum for free Wednesday. It was a bit disappointing but well worth our price of entry. Unfortunately my stomach became unhappy and it was more important to head home. We skipped dinner again and just rested up for our last full day in Halifax. We are collecting delightful memories here. I stayed up late to keep an eye on the Giant's Wild Card game in hopes of better results that way. Woo Hoo! It worked.
By the way, we learned yesterday that our favorite show on Netflix, "Last a Tango in Halifax", is unavailable unfortunately.
